Now yes: it is time to pay the Government's Initial Fee. We send your application with the documents to the CIU of São Tomé after you have paid your government due diligence.
After official approval from the Government, they ask you to make the Contribution together with the Shipping Fee, which must normally be met within 90 calendar days.
Once the funds are received: the CIU works on the registration certificate, national ID and passport issuance. Once issued, the document is sent to the home address provided.

The scheme is structured so that the investor's contribution is directed to the National Transformation Fund (NTF), financing renewable energy, ecotourism, education and infrastructure initiatives. The passport allows its holders to travel without a visa, with a visa on arrival or with an electronic visa to more than 90 countries, including strategic destinations such as South Africa, Singapore and Hong Kong (SAR of China).
An adult passport is valid for 7 years, while a passport for minors (under 16) is valid for 3 years.
You can renew your passport at any embassy in São Tomé and Príncipe or directly at the Citizenship Investment Unit (CIU) office in Dubai.
There is no need to appear in person in São Tomé for interviews or for taking the oath of office as part of the citizenship by investment process. Nor is it necessary to do so at a São Tomé embassy. The necessary forms are certified to a notary or registered lawyer and are then sent by courier.
