Learn about the Plan B for Americans (and increasingly Europeans).

Discover how a second residency in Mexico is a Plan B that safeguards your future.
In Mexico, you can structure your life and that of your loved ones with an efficient monthly expense that maximizes quality of life without sacrificing services.

Same time zone as the US and Canada. If you have customers or your market is there, it is undoubtedly an ideal base for operating, investing and coordinating without friction.

It is possible to maintain your residency with a minimum physical presence, without activating tax residency if you do not live more than half a year or transfer your center of interest. A true plan B, in every sense of the word.

It is an absolutely beautiful country with mountains, paradisiacal beaches and historic cities. However, it is a fact that security is being seriously jeopardized.

It has affordable quality real estate in specific areas, with access to well-valued properties in both established and emerging markets.

Mexico offers quality private healthcare and bilingual international education for the little ones (and not so young) in the house.

Forget about complexity. You pay and you get. That is.
From international banking and offshore companies to second passports, we design solutions that protect wealth, reduce risks and provide the peace of mind of knowing that your children's future has real alternatives.

“Open the door to a future full of opportunities”

A temporary residency of 1 year is usually obtained. Afterwards, you must return to Mexico to renew it, at which point you will be granted a temporary residency card valid for 3 years. After this time, you can apply for permanent residency, which does not expire. In 2026, there are no minimum physical presence requirements, other than being present in Mexico when applying for residency.
The different types of request are for:
- Real estate ownership.
- Economic solvency.
- Retirement.
- Work permit.
- Marriage.
- Birth tourism in Mexico.
One of the main advantages of obtaining residency in Mexico is that few documents are required. Depending on the type of visa and where you apply for it from, you need one of the following:
- Passport.
- Proof of investment, financial solvency, employment contract or family ties.
- Several Mexican Government forms to complete and government fees to pay online.
- Marriage certificate.
- Birth certificate.
Note:
* All documents must be translated into Spanish.
* All documents from your country of origin must be apostilled.
Yes, it is possible.
If you are a Spanish citizen, you simply must prove that you spent 18 months of the previous 24 months in Mexico. Simultaneously, it is necessary to pass an exam in Spanish and Mexican culture, which is very simple to pass.
Unlike countries like Panama and Paraguay, which are often promoted as easy options for obtaining citizenship (but are not), Mexico has an optimal and transparent naturalization system. If you meet the requirements, you are granted citizenship.
Giving birth in Mexico offers an incredible opportunity to obtain Mexican citizenship for your family, in addition to enjoying affordable, first-rate healthcare. Our local team can help you plan your delivery without complications.
Why in Mexico?
- Incredible and affordable healthcare with top-notch medical professionals.
- Much better customer service than in many “first-world” countries.
- Additional services such as midwives, doulas and breastfeeding counselors are also affordable.
- Home births with doctors and midwives are legal in Mexico.
- Relaxed environment with great apartments and The Caribbean close by for swimming and relaxing.
- Your child automatically becomes a Mexican citizen.
- The parents of the newborn can obtain permanent residency in Mexico.
- Both groups of grandparents can obtain permanent residency in Mexico.
- The newborn's siblings can obtain permanent residency in Mexico.
Note:
* This special permanent residency by consanguinity offers an accelerated path to qualifying for citizenship.
* Mexican citizens have the same preferential access to the labor market as Canadian citizens. Normally, non-U.S. people must apply for an H1B visa, which is very difficult to obtain due to strict quotas, but as a Canadian or Mexican citizen, you only need a job offer. With this job offer, you apply for a TN visa (NAFTA professional visa) and you can live and work in the United States. There are no fees for this type of visa. It is simply a procedure - an incredible opportunity to access the U.S. labor market in the future.
Basically, when you give birth in Mexico, you give your entire family a back-up Plan B and your child becomes a Mexican citizen from day one.
1.- MEDICAL CARE AND DELIVERY OPTIONS.
The most important thing is the birth experience itself. In general, it is much more affordable than in North America and private centers in Europe, but the service, competence and amenities are just as good, or even better. Depending on the experience you are looking for, our local team can provide it for you.
C-section? Alright.
Natural childbirth? Of course.
Home birth? Also fine.
Depending on the choice, we assign you the best doctors and equipment that fit your needs. In addition, before giving birth, you can request special yoga, pilates, massage and acupuncture sessions.
2.- LEGAL DOCUMENTATION.
After giving birth, we work hand in hand to achieve:
- Obtaining the birth certificate.
- Obtaining the Mexican passport and identification of the minor.
- Obtaining permanent residency for the whole family (parents, grandparents, siblings under 18).
Although Mexico is a charming country, it is very bureaucratic and things are not always simple. But we can do it ;)
3.- POSTPARTUM SUPPORT.
In many cases, the weeks and months after giving birth can be even more stressful than the birth itself. We put you in touch with:
- Pediatricians.
- Postpartum counseling.
- Doulas.
- Experts in breastfeeding.
4.- LOGISTICS AND ACCOMMODATION.
- Airport transfers.
- Search for an apartment.
- Buy or rent a car.
- Family photo sessions with the baby.
- Care packages.
- Shopping for the mother and the future baby.
- Beauty services such as home pedicures, manicures, hairdressing, etc.
