Tax residency refers to the status of a natural or legal person who is subject to taxation in the country based on their income, assets and economic activities (in this case, Paraguay).
In Paraguay, there are 2 ways to be considered a tax resident. The first option is to spend 120 days a year within the country, while the second is to have the RUC active and thus you do not need a minimum of days (both need to have a temporary or permanent residency permit).
Temporary residency in Paraguay is a legal status granted to foreigners who wish to reside in the country for a specified period without becoming permanent residents. The temporary residency lasts 2 years and you have to visit the country every 12 months so it does not expire. After these 2 years, you can become a permanent resident and you only have to visit the country every 36 months so that it does not expire.
